Originally founded in 1891, the company gradually evolved into specialist electrical and refrigerated equipment. Due to our location in the Laurieston area of Edinburgh, the main customer then was the relatively new Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. With developments in temperature control, since the 1930s the company has concentrated on refrigerated equipment especially medical & laboratory, this again can be traced to location of premises and the fact that Edinburgh has a relatively large university with a strong emphasis on medical research.

Internally Sparkfree Refrigerators & Freezers

A range of +4°C Refrigerators and -20/-25°C Freezers, which are internally sparkfree.

Part of the sparkproofing procedure involves the elimination of any possible sources of electrical arcing which may ignite flammable vapours or liquids. Due to this requirement, these models do not have any interior lighting or fan circulation.

VFD Range = -25°C Upright Freezers (with drawers)

CHS Range = -22°C Chest Freezers
